Hey, Everyone! Welcome to our new page. Now, where to start? On dark and stormy night? Sure that sounds good. On a (not so) dark and stormy night a (very) small group of friends and I sat down together and started talking about college, future plans, homework, how boring our lives had become ever since graduating high school, etc. and we all came to the conclusion that we need a little adventure in our life. And so with adventure in mind we hatched a devious plan to buy a wolf dog, train it, and then go hiking across America for the summer. My close friend and I are both writers looking for inspiration, and what better inspiration is there than living out in the wilderness for several months? Now at this point I know what you're thinking, "why a wolf dog? In fact, what the heck is a wolf dog in the first place?" Wolf dogs are hybrids between Siberian Huskies or Alaskan Malamutes and wolves. We chose this type of wolf not only for it's poetic "wolf returning to nature" aspect, but also because once it's an adult it will be useful for protection, to help us carry a few things, and hopefully we can even teach it how to hunt for itself. Everything sounds a bit out of the ordinary, don'tcha think? Well it is in the name after all. We're our own special kind of Misfits and we're proud to be so. Now throughout this entire journey we'll be writing stories, and blogging our experiences (assuming that we'll be able to find an internet connection every once in a while.) And it's at this point that you come in. If you'd like to read an adventure filled travel blog about a few college students trekking through America's wilderness alongside a wolfish companion, then great! We'd love for you to keep track of us and join in the excitement. The only thing is, we're going to need a bit of help. Despite our hopes to "live off of the land" during our journey, we're still going to need some supplies, and besides that, wolf dogs don't come cheap (at least not for the puppies, which we would need to be able to successfully train it.) So in the next week or two I'll be setting up an account on gofundme.com. If you could help us get started then we would be forever grateful (not to mention you would have something cool to read for a while) and if everything goes well, we'll likely be taking even more trips in years to come! Our goal is to eventually get to Canada and then to other parts of the world, although we figured for now we should take things one step at a time. Anyhoo, thanks for taking the time to read this! I'll be posting the link to gofundme very soon! Thanks guys! I look forward to being able to write more for you in the coming weeks, months and even years.
P.S. the wolf dog in the picture above isn't ours but as soon as we have one of our own, we'll change that picture out right away and replace it with a picture of our own little doggy.
